Fruit Scones

Hi and Welcome to Recipe XS,

Here you will find new ways to spice up your food with original recipes which we will try and post everyday.

So if you have any recipes you want to tell the world about please email them to us at recipe@recipexs.co.uk. Also if you cook any of the recipes please take a photo and send it into us at the same address and we will post it with that recipe.

To start the ball rolling we have Fruit and Cheese Scones. So are you ready? If so let’s begin.

Fruit Scones (makes approx 20)

2lb or 900g of Self Raising Flour

1 Heaped Desert Spoon of Baking Powder

½lb or 226g of Margarine

1(UK) or 1.20(USA) Pint of Milk

8oz or 227g of Sugar

8oz or 227g of Sultanas

Rub the margarine into the flour, add remaining dry ingredients and mix well. Add milk and mix to form a dough. Sprinkle flour on the work surface and roll out the dough to about 1½” or 3.8cm thick and cut out with a cutter. Place on a baking tray, brush well with beaten egg. Bake at 180°C for 14 mins or until brown. Leave to cool and serve with butter or jam and clotted cream – enjoy!

And if you don’t fancy the frutiy ones you can always try the cheesy ones!!

½ Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

8oz or 227g Grated Cheddar Cheese

Sprinkle flour on the work surface and roll out the dough to about 1½” or 3.8cm thick & cut out with a cutter. Place on a baking tray, brush well with beaten egg.
